100-ish Word Thought: Uncheck the Box

Useful wedding & event business marketing advice, from Julianne Smith, Garter Girl Creative

Check Yourself, Before you wreck yourself

If you're just getting your marketing done for the sake of being done, you’re missing the point.

Wedding pros often treat marketing like laundry. (And trust me, I hate laundry.) A task to cross off. A box to check.

But marketing isn’t just one more thing on your to-do list. It is the thing. It’s the whole pile of laundry, if you will.

No referrals, leads, no inquiries equals no business. Full stop.

And if you're checking the box and still not getting the leads or the clients you want? F to the Y to the I: you didn’t actually check the box. You just repeated an ineffective to do.

Posting to Instagram isn’t the win. Updating the website isn’t the win. Results are the win.

If what you’re doing isn’t working, stop doing it. Start trying something that might.

You’re allowed to uncheck the box. You’re allowed to try a different one.

Don’t confuse box checking with outcome.
