100-ish Word Thought: Make room for progress
You Can’t Be Strategic & Tactical at the Same Time
In your wedding business, tactics always shout the loudest. Answering emails, serving clients, posting to social, chasing payments, managing the day-to-day. Those things have to get done.
But if you only ever focus on the tactical, you’ll never solve the bigger issues that keep coming back. Those bigger, strategic or foundational issues that are holding you back from moving the ball forward or making progress.
Strategy is what takes us to the next level. And, yet, tactics are what sustains us when we get there. But, if we stay too long in sustaining mode, we’ll never move to that next level and the next one after that.
The tug-of-war is real. Tactical takes the most time, but strategy requires different time and space. You can’t dig into why a problem keeps happening while you’re in the middle of fixing it.
If you feel like you’re not making progress, it’s because you’re living in the tactical. Strategy requires you to step away, carve out space, and think differently. Hold the immediate problem in one hand, but save time later to address it at the root.
Without strategy, you’ll just keep spinning your wheels. You’ll be busy, but never moving forward.
