100-ish Word Thought: Wedding Slop
Only You Can Clean Up This Mess
The wedding industry has a slop problem. We can’t blame AI for all of it.
AI didn’t invent the bad wedding planning advice it’s serving up to engaged couples. It scraped it from the Internet. It’s just pulling from what it finds.
And we all know how much wrong, outdated, overly generic wedding planning information is already out there.
The problem is, the bots don’t know it’s wrong. And your future clients definitely don’t know it’s wrong.
They’re asking AI questions about budgets, timelines, invitations, photography, flowers, entertainment, planning, etiquette and everything else.
Then, they’re putting a scary amount of trust in the answers they get. (They’re blind trust is a whole other topic for another day.)
For now, here’s the good news: We can fix the slop. The AI doesn’t have to put out the misinformation.
If you know something about planning a wedding, anything that would make your clients’ lives just a little better, now is the time to put it on the Internet.
Answer the questions. Correct the misconceptions. Explain the nuance. Share what actually happens at real weddings.
AI needs better information to learn from. So do your future customers.
You don’t need to become an AI expert. You need to be the wedding expert you already are, and make sure the Internet knows it.
